About The Course

This course covers advanced skippering techniques for coastal passages, day and night, for those with considerable knowledge of sailing and navigation.

The course consists of skippered passages in a variety of situations.  Each student will skipper more challenging passages and learn more about passage planning, pilotage by day and night, boat handling, safety and emergency situations.

You will find the course easier if you have already completed Coastal/Yachtmaster Shore based, as the navigation elements are more advanced than for Day Skipper.

At this level, you should be able to undertake more difficult passages by day and night and handle the yacht in more demanding conditions.

It is a demanding but satisfying week, working towards the Certificate of Competence.

By the end of the course, you should have the knowledge, if not the experience to be come a Yachtmaster.  This course can be followed with an RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Coastal Exam if required, which can in turn be commercially endorsed.
