RYA Coastal / Yachtmaster Theory London/Gosport

This RYA Yachtmaster theory and Coastal Skipper theory course will equip you with the knowledge to navigate safely on coastal and offshore passages. It allows some time for revision of the basics and then moves on to advanced navigation techniques, building on the RYA Day Skipper Theory course, and will raise your knowledge to the standard required for the Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster Offshore practical exams.

The course is taught over 40 hours plus break times (free refreshments included!). Our evening classes are based in London Waterloo or Holborn one evening a week plus a weekend, following this you will have free access to our invigilated exam evenings or weekends. Alternatively we offer more intensive courses at our new training facility in Gosport Marina either as a week long course or over 3 weekends, accomodation may be available on one of our yachts in the marina, please enquire.

We run our theory courses at the following locations:
You should have knowledge and understanding equivalent to that contained in the Day Skipper Theory syllabus.

Be able to to plot position, measure distance and direction. Make basic calculation of tidal height and tidal stream. Have a working knowledge of the collision regulations and basic seamanship.
